The Jitneys will provide transportation in 13-passenger, air conditioned, eco-friendly (powered by natural gas) vehicles.
The current plan is to drive north on Second Avenue and Dune Drive, and south on Ocean Drive and Third Avenue. The Jitneys will make stops on the corners where customers will be waiting. With 6 to 8 Jitneys running each day, the wait should be no longer than 10 minutes. The schedule is to run Friday through Sunday starting Memorial Day through June, and then seven days a week from July through Labor Day weekend. Fairs will be $2/person from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and then $4/person from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.I would have loved having this option when we used to rent in Stone Harbor during my high school years. It would have been so great to hang out with friends in both towns. Now I'd love to take the late night Jitney following a trip to the bars but with an infant at home, I'm just happy going to bed early:)
