Bringing Back the Fun in Somers Point

Here's an interesting article about how Somers Point is planning to bring back the fun.

We are all for it! For now we'll continue to enjoy the Anchorage, Charlies, and Smittys.   Maybe Bubba Mac will come back too.

Hotel Sheets vs. Vacation Homes

Here's an interesting article about the types of sheets provided by hotels.  Let's just say we rank right up there with top hotels like the Westin:

Monday

We had a great time on Monday trying out Porta in Asbury Park with Jen Miller.  Jen and I have been wanting to check it out since our last dinner at Langosta.

The decor is really fun. Guests sit either at the bar or at the long tables. We shared the Bibb salad and  one of their specialty pies.

On weekends, we've been told to call ahead since there is normally a wait.

Parasailing in Ocean City

Check out this Ocean City video from the Travel Channel:

Ocean Beach Realty

We enjoyed meeting with Ocean Beach Realty today. We had the opportunity to discuss linen rentals and ways to best integrate our services with their rentals.  Ocean Beach Realty has about 4,000 rentals per season.  Many of the rentals have been vacationing in OB for years and know the normal drill of bringing linens.  However, there are many vacationers that they believe would benefit from the convenience.

In appreciation for their time, we provided a $100 gift certificate for their upcoming Customer Appreciation Weekend on Jan 28-29.

Visit Ocean Beach Realty  on Facebook on on their website.

Summer 2012 Predictions

We attended the annual Ocean City Economic Meeting at the Flanders on Thursday.   Steve Brady spoke to the Chamber  and provided this good news about Summer 2012:

"There is some good news. The Ninth Street Bridge and Route 52 Causeway will offer a sleek, scenic entrance to Ocean City. Hurricane Irene could have, but did not cause a lot of damage, though the storm did shut the shore down for almost a week.
Atlantic City, he said, is offering popular outdoor concerts and new casinos are coming. On the flip side, for the first time ever, Pennsylvania gaming halls beat their Atlantic City rivals in the revenue department.
“I think it will be a good year for tourism,” he said. “There are some good things happening in Atlantic City. People will still want to come to Ocean City this summer.”

Beautiful sunrise today

Vacation Home Rentals for Weddings

We enjoyed meeting with an engaged couple in Long Branch today.  The couple was interested in renting a vacation mansion for their upcoming wedding.   We were happy to help the property manager out with showing the property at a time most convenient to the prospective guests.

Jersey Shore Vacation Home Wedding

We received a request on Sunday to assist a property manager with showing two mansion-like properties to a family for an upcoming wedding.  Being that we LOVE weddings, we were so excited to help out.

We are fairly familiar with the properties and they were really easy to show.   We enjoyed speaking with the families to learn more about their plans.  We hope to get more into the wedding circuit until we get into the summer season.

Renting a vacation home at the Jersey Shore sounds like a great alternative instead of having a wedding at a reception hall.

We'd be happy to help other property managers and homeowners out by showing their homes if needed.

Bag Pipers Lead
Plungers to The Water
Here are some photos from this years LADACIN Polar Bear Plunge in Manasquan.

We chose not to participate this year since we decided this was a once in a lifetime activity and not exactly something we felt we had to do every year.
Check out our blog post from last year covering the play-by-play.

We did; however, try to keep it festive this year by looking like a polar bear in our warm coat.

We started the fun at Leggett's with all the plungers and spectators.  Leggett's was rockin'!

From there followed the bag pipers onto the beach to watch the dash into the waters.

Way to go plungers!

Houseguests

Knowing someone with a house at the Jersey Shore hopefully opens up the possibility of being a houseguest.  Here are a few great suggestions from Real Simple Magazine to make sure you are invited back:

Our Favorite Tip is to "Leave No Trace" when checking out.

Make Valentines Day A Year Round Celebration

Romance Package
With Valentines Day in mind, we've added a Romance Package to our services.  While most vacationers aren't at the beach in the middle of February we will be making the Valentines Day spirit a  year round celebration.
We've always loved reviewing this service when looking at resort websites to see what's included.   We've taken some of the best G-rated options to form our own.
We think this will be great for honeymooners, couples celebrating an anniversary or a typical Wednesday night for some.  We just don't recommend for a first date:)
Package Details:
A romantic getaway to the Jersey Shore is a perfect way to say "I love you".  Our Romance Package includes:
  • Godiva chocolates at bedside
  • Sparkling non-alcoholic wine and two champagne flutes
  • Two plush bathrobes for your use during your stay
  • Rose and petals on bed
  • Turn down service
  • Candles (Flameless)
  • Romantic music or music of your choice

Trip Report: Point Pleasant

We enjoyed a great lunch today in Point Pleasant with Lisa Jedic at Prudential Zack Shores.  Lisa handles a lot of great rentals in Manasquan, Point Pleasant and surrounding towns.  We met Lisa on Twitter early last year and have been chatting ever since.

Lisa invited me to their new location at Ocean Ave.  We arrived with a box of delicious cookies from Joe Leones.

Beachfront Rentals
It was nice to meet with the other agents in the office. We chatted about Relax Concierge and the upcoming summer season.  Just talking about the summer made me feel a little warmer.

Lisa and I dined at 709 after finding out that Off Shore was closed until Jan 15th.  Neither of had been to 709 before but we had heard good things.  Lunch was great.  The location was really nice and modern.  I had the Lobster Bisque and BLTA sandwich.  The A stands for Avocado.  The soup was delicious and so was the sandwich.   We've made it a plan to try to get together at least once a month. Hopefully we go back to 709!

After lunch,  I stopped by one of our new favorite butchers, Artic Market & Butcher.  The owner is so nice and their meats are delicious and affordable.  Looks like pork chops for dinner tonight.

Trip Report: Ocean City Visit

Today was our first trip to Ocean City in 2012.     We've got a lot of fun and exciting things planned for the new year.

We started off our day visiting a top secret location.  This location is going to be top secret for a just a few more weeks until we work out a few more things.  Let's just say everyone in Ocean City that knows where Wawa is will know where to find Relax Concierge.

Following this, we met up with our summer friend, Jen. Most of our customers spoke with Jen when placing an order last summer.  Jen helped a lot with customer requests, website updates, grocery delivery, Saturday delivery schedules and doing deliveries in Ocean City.

Jen and I dined at the Varsity Inn.  We were lucky to dine in the Loyola College section being that it was so packed at lunch.  Its one of the few places open in the off season and they certainly doing well.  I enjoyed a cup of the New England Clam Chowder and half sandwich.

It was great to catch up with Jen regarding her Fall semester at college.   We are so proud to hear that Jen will be working in NYC next summer.  We will miss her but we will add her as Relax Alumnae and hope she does some recruiting for us.

After this,  we headed to TD Bank in order to make  the exciting things possible for the upcoming summer.     After we signed on the dotted line, we went over to meet with Mike Allegretto at Prudential Fox & Roach at 55th Street.   Mike and I talked about summer rentals and how we can best work together in the coming months.

2012 is off to a great start!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our viewers.  We truly enjoyed working with all of you in 2011.  We look forward to announcing new and exciting things for 2012.  For today, we enjoy the sunrise and collecting sand dollars at the beach on this first day of the year.
